Krakowskie Przedmieście Street – guided tour

The Krakowskie Przedmieście Street – (Krakow Suburbs) it is first part of the Royal Road. That street was named Krakow Suburbs because it points in the direction to Krakow – the former capital of Poland. Krakowskie Przedmieście, in the old days, was a street with a beautiful palaces where the richest magnates lived. Untill today Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat streets are the most famous strees with a lot of famous and great variety of elegant shops, hotels and restaurants.

Sights on the Krakowskie Przedmieście Street:

• The Statue of Nicholas Copernicus and the Staszic Palace – the seat of the Polish Science Academy

• The Missionary Church – the Holy Cross Chuch – where we have the heart of the Fryderyk Chopin

• The Czapski Palace – now it is the Academy of Fine Art,

• The Europejski Hotel – the Warsaw first grand hotel from 1855,

• The Potocki Palace – now the seat of the Ministry of Culture,

• The University of Warsaw – the oldest university in Warsaw, which was created in 1816.

• The Kazimierzowski Palace – it was initially the summer residence of the Kings Władysław IV and Jan Kaziemirz, In the 18th century King Stanisław August Poniatowski changed that residential function and that palace was used as a headquarter of the Noble’s School – Knight’s School, and later untill today as a main headquarter of Warsaw Uniwersity

• The Church of the Visitation and The Order of the Nuns the Visitation,

• The Hotel Bristol,

• The Presidential Palace – now the seat of the Polish President,

• The Statue of Prince Józef Poniatowski

• The Carmelite Church – where we have the Metropolitan Higher Seminary. That Church survuved the II World War, and after the war it served as a temporary Warsaw Cathedral until the reconstruction of the St. John Cathedral

• The Statue of Adam Mickiewicz

• The St. Anna Church – the academic church, where John Paul II met with the Warsaw students. One of the most beautiful baroque churches in Warsaw.

Walk through the Krakowskie Przedmieście street takes almost 1,5 hour and is connected with the tour of the Old Town. Next to the Krakowskie Przedmieści is located the Pilsudski Square with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Saxon Garden (Ogród Saski).
